We are now celebrating 50 years of swimming! Oakleigh Park School of Swimming was established in 1975. We pride ourselves on offering swimming lessons with restricted numbers to ensure maximum progress.

Oakleigh Park School of Swimming was established in 1975 and the manager is Jonathan Rolfe. His parents, Ron and Pam, have worked in swimming for over fifty years and they met when Ron taught Pam to swim! It was whilst teaching all those years ago they realised that teaching swimming in cold water and with the public all around was not working. Land was acquired at the tennis club in Whetstone, which is still on the same grounds in Oakleigh Road North and building commenced.

All these years on and with the same philosophy: small groups and warm water. We offer numerous services such as:

• Lessons and coaching to all ages and abilities.
• Groups and private lessons for one or two pupils
• Different classes of abilities each half hour so you can swim at the ame time.
• Pool hire for film shooting and pool parties
• Scuba from 8 years upwards all the way through to Open Water. Snorkelling lessons for all ages.
• A centre for people who wish to gain their teaching and lifesaving qualifications along with pool management qualifications
• Complete pool management for the commercial and domestic industries.

Swimmers book for 'terms' that run similar to school terms. We also offer intensive courses in the holidays. You do not have to pay for lessons in the holiday periods.

We strive to make sure that our customers visit is an enjoyable, educational and motivating experience ensuring that they leave satisfied and excited in the swimmers progress. It is not unusual to find swimmers and teachers who have enjoyed our facilities for over fifty years.

We are also delighted to manage other pools in the area for commercial organisations and school pools.

In September 2014, we were awarded the 'STAMark' for the third time. STAmark was created by the Swimming Teachers' Association to provide a framework that would support and encourage the raising of standards within this unregulated sector. The STA wanted to develop a quality accreditation programme that specifically addressed the business and operational needs of these swim school owners, in order to raise teaching standards, promote learn-to-swim schemes and ultimately give the public confidence in the swim school they attend. The award was also the catalyst for the STA supporting the BSI British Standards in the development of PAS 81:2008; STAmark is currently the only nationally recognised quality mark that is fully aligned with PAS 81:2008 specification, and that externally validates and recognises safe practices and standards in swim schools and similar operations.

In June 2014, we built and started offering lessons in our new pool in WOODSIDE PARK next to Frith Manor School. It is on the boundaries of Mill Hill, not too far from the Mill Hill East tube station. Postcode N12 7BN.

A survey showed that people come to us because:

• We have been awarded Distinction in the STA Mark accreditation
• We have small groups in warm water
• Our staff are approachable and friendly

Our thoughts:

• Our staff work by 3 objectives: Customer service, Health and Safety and Quality - we welcome visits to all swimming pools, speak to staff before making a decision
• Our prices reflect our class ratios. Check with swim schools, how many lessons you will receive for the fee you pay?
• Check the ratios of classes before you book anywhere. This is very important for any level of swimmer
• We pride ourselves with continuity of teachers throughout the term. This builds a trust between pupil and teacher, which ultimately helps progression
